TEAM SELECTION
1. Students participate in the first round tryout session. The sixty-five national tournament questions will be read by a moderator. Students will give written answers. Points are deducted for incorrect answers. Students will be given complete rules at the testing site.

2. The tests are graded five different times and given an overall score as well as a separate score for math, science, social studies and humanities. The top eight students in each of the separate categories and the top four remaining students with the highest overall score will be invited to attend the second round of tryouts.  Students may qualify for the buzzer round in more than one area.

3. The questions for the buzzer round will be from the specific subject area for that time. Each student will begin the buzzer round with fifty points. Points are awarded for correct answers and deducted for incorrect answers. The student with the highest score at the end of each specific subject area competition will become a member of the all-star team. The student placing second will advance to the Wild Card round. Questions in the Wild Card round will cover all subject areas. The top two students from the Wild Card round will also become members of the all-star team.
